*Today, human beings are completely dependent on different Software and Applications. Humans use different tools, techniques, and lifestyles to survive on Earth easily. Software become a very important part for living standard in the digital world. We use software in fields such as medical field, engineering, communication, banking, design, and research. software security, privacy, fault free version of software are key requirements for a better user experience. Using different testing techniques, we can find faults in the software and provide better-quality products to users. Optimization plays a very important role in solving complex problems in different areas. Researchers and scientists broadly accept metaheuristic algorithms to solve multiple optimization problems in different fields such as engineering design problems, in the medical field, science, economics, artificial intelligence, industrial areas, etc. Metaheuristic Algorithms are classified into many categories: evolutionary algorithms, nature inspired swarm intelligence based algorithms, chemistry based algorithms, physics based algorithms, and art based algorithms. researchers also make use of metaheuristic algorithms to solve software testing issues for more useful quality software products. In this paper, software testing importance, software testing history, types, software testing techniques, and metaheuristic techniques for test case generation, selection, evaluation, optimization, and prioritization are discussed in detail.
