This study introduces a parallel buffer filling technique for Video-on-Demand (VoD) streaming within Peer-to- Peer (P2P) environments. A P2P video-on-demand streaming technique must efficiently manage peer churn and the asynchronous arrival of peers. The proposed solution addresses the challenge by implementing a parallel buffer filling method for robust recovery and encourages peers to sustain the necessary connectivity through a modified grade-based incentive mechanism. This paper presents analytical models and classifies peers into distinct potential groups. The design of parallel streaming into distinct buffer zones of the client peer, incorporating incentives, facilitates an understanding and control of the interplay between efficiency, fairness, and incentives in peer-to-peer video-on-demand systems. Our analytical analysis demonstrates the feasibility of achieving robust P2PVoD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
