*Generative artificial intelligence (AI) can amplify cyber threats by enabling the creation of deepfakes that spread disinformation, misinformation, and malinformation, while also affecting users’ perceptions and decision-making. This article examines the global role of cyber-wellness education (CWE) and digital media literacy in helping netizens recognize and respond to these risks. Policymakers and educational institutions often lag behind malicious actors, highlighting the need to update CWE programs, integrate current laws and policies, and address copyright and ownership issues of deepfakes. Strengthening curricula, providing accessible training, and developing practical public tools to verify AI-generated content are critical strategies for reducing biases, enhancing resilience, and mitigating the societal impacts of deepfakes.*
