*Cloud computing is one of the game-changing initiatives because it provides convenient, flexible, and on-demand resources. Due to the integration of numerous areas and functions, potential problems inherent in modern construction must be noticed, such as the practical and accurate management of resources and enhanced security. Generally, improving cloud performance does not diminish its core advantage, which is load balancing. Load balancing aims to evenly distribute the workload across servers to prevent overloading or system failure. The goal is to achieve faster response times, reduce costs, and enhance system efficiency. However, there have been significant improvements in the primary research area, and load balancing can still be considered a research challenge, resulting from the cloud's ever-changing working conditions. The comparative analysis discusses different load-balancing algorithms, highlighting the ongoing research in the field. The four main load-balancing algorithms examined in this study are static, dynamic, metaheuristic, and hybrid. Previous research works are analyzed to determine its ability to address cloud computing problems, and a comparison framework is provided to show the differences in the efficiency of each algorithm. Thus, this paper aims to provide insight into load-balancing algorithms to grasp possible solutions as they are considered today and possibly chart the direction for future development in cloud computing technology.
